The Afterschool Alliance and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation are once again looking for outstanding afterschool programs that have demonstrated excellence providing literacy support to help improve students’ reading, writing and critical thinking skills. This year, the award focuses on afterschool programs that have demonstrated excellence providing literacy support to English language learner students.
The Dollar General Afterschool Literacy Award winner will receive $10,000 for their program. In addition to being awarded $10,000, the Dollar General Afterschool Literacy Award winner will be presented the award at the Afterschool for All Challenge, the Afterschool Alliance’s annual conference that unites hundreds of afterschool advocates, thought leaders, policy makers, state and local officials, parents, youth and Members of Congress in Washington, D.C. Nominations will close Dec. 16, 2016.
Program staff and directors are allowed and encouraged to nominate their own program, but you do not have to be officially affiliated with a program to nominate it. However, the most competitive nominations will need data from the program itself.
