National Summer Learning Day Webinar

On what happens to be a snowy first day of spring here in Baltimore, I’ve got an important message for you: Summer is coming!

This year, NSLA challenges you to ring in the summer with National Summer Learning Day on June 19th. More than 350,000 youth were reached through National Summer Learning Day events and programs across the country last year, including over one-hundred GLR communities. Our goal is to double that to 700,000 in 2015!

Join us on Friday, April 3rd at 1 PM EST for an interactive webinar to find out how you can get involved in this year’s National Summer Learning Day!

You’ll learn more about:

-          The new National Summer Learning Day campaign to “Keep Kids Learning” and our new interactive map;

-          How other communities plan to participate this year;

-          Resources that will help your community generate awareness, build capacity for summer learning, and keep kids learning all summer.

Register today for the National Summer Learning Day webinar on Friday, April 3rd, 2015 at 1 PM EST.

    And here's the slide deck:
  • We have a newly formed Indian River County Moonshot Moment Summer/Afterschool Team of 15 members, and we will be hosting a County-wide event for national summer learning day. We are sending an original "Stop the Summer Slide" song to every summer camp provider that they may teach their students.

    We are hosting a workshop for summer providers and their staff to teach them how they can integrate literacy-related activities into their camps. We are creating a weekly eNewsletter with summer learning tips for the camp providers and an opportunity for them to share what has worked. We are giving away "Moonshot Moment Summer Camp Provider Care Packages" with literacy activity tools. Our Moonshot Moment goal is to have all summer camp providers offering a literacy-related enrichment activitiy so that we will achieve our Moonshot Moment goal to have 90% of third graders reading on grade level by 2018!
  • If anyone wants to import the GLR Huddle calendar into your own Google calendar, here's the link:

    It will ask you if want to add the CAP Brand calendar. Select "Yes, add this calendar". CAP Brand were the developers that created the Huddle's design. It is the GLR Huddle calendar.
