Over the past year, the nation's focus on the tragedy that unfolded in Flint has shone a brighter light on the tragic, costly and devastating impact of lead poisoning across our nation.
Building on the opportunities presented by this renewed focus, the progress made to date and a growing national movement to bend the arc of public and political will to bring an end to the toxic legacy of lead in the United States, the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, Healthy Babies, Bright Futures, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the National Center for Healthy Housing have joined forces to produce a National Summit to End Lead Poisoning on December 5, 2016 in Washington DC.
This Summit will bring together the best and brightest strategists from leaders in government, public policy, environmental health, healthcare, housing, education, philanthropy and the private sector. The goal of the Summit is to build stakeholder capacity across sectors to end childhood lead poisoning as a major public health threat within 5 years.

THE SUMMIT IS BEING DESIGNED TO:
- Make the elimination of childhood lead poisoning a national priority.
- Bring together a larger, more diverse and more powerful group of advocates and scientists to create a shared commitment to make this happen. n Align and create a mutual support network for the reduction strategies for different lead exposures.
- Create the necessary communications and coordination tools to build the political will to make the vision a reality.
THIS SUMMIT WILL CREATE THE PLAN TO:
- Map the sources of lead and make this information publicly and widely available.
- Get the lead out (and create an inner-city Green Jobs program in the process).
- Make sure there is no new lead.
