Message from GLR NCSC Director, Ron Fairchild
I hope you had a nice weekend. It was great to connect with so many of you who participated in the webinar last week. For those of you may have missed it, I wanted to take a brief opportunity to share a progress report on the Tell Our Story effort that we launched earlier this month. We have already received stories from Sacramento, CA, the coastal communities in Georgia, the Quad Cities, and Springfield, MA. It's exciting to see the different ways these four communities used newspaper articles, video, photos, and text to share their stories. We encourage you not only to go see what your fellow communities are doing, but also to comment on these stories with feedback, advice, and encouragement. Let's celebrate how far we've come!
If you've been brainstorming ways to share what's happened in your community this year, you may want to explore some free storytelling tools like the Floodlight Story Builder, which offers storytelling tips and best practices and helps you integrate text, pictures, video, audio, and data to create a sharable presentation. For infographic tools, you can try Infogram and Piktochart. These resources are available if you want to use them, but we're happy to receive and post your story in any form.
In last Monday's email to you, I shared the story of our Results Scorecard pilot project involving Network communities and the NCSC over the past year.I noted that based on the success of that effort and growing interest from Network communities, we would soon announce an exciting opportunity to expand the pilot and provide greater access to this tool within the Network. Well, today I'm pleased to extend the attached invitation to join the expanded pilot. The attached flyer will give you all the details about how to take advantage of this opportunity. If you have any questions or need additional information about this opportunity, please contact Bob Saffold, Senior Consultant, Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, at email@example.com or 919-710-1065.
