Do you have volunteer reading tutors or mentors serving in your community? Honor your community’s literacy volunteers during this year’s National Volunteer Week (April 12-18) by giving them a shoutout on the Grade-Level Reading website and nominating them for recognition with Points of Light, the GLR partner organization sponsoring National Volunteer Week. There are lots of ways to lift up your volunteers!
This week’s news from the Network Communities Support Center includes:
- In this week’s Bright Spot, the Arkansas Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is partnering with the Arkansas Out of School Network (AOSN) to expand access to quality summer learning programs statewide and to mark National Summer Learning Day (June 19). Read this week’s Bright Spot on the Huddle and add your voice to the discussion.
- Attendance Works has just released a new toolkit for school principals. It covers cultivating a culture of attendance, using data, developing staff capacity to adopt effective attendance practices and advocating for resources and policies to improve attendance. Read more and download the toolkit on the Huddle.
- Attendance Works and United Way Worldwide are offering a four-part webinar series leading up to Attendance Awareness Month in September. The first, Ready Set Go!, is April 15. You can register now for the webinar, which starts at 2 PM ET. Read more on the Huddle.
